Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center’s 33 rd annual Pow Wow

Pittsburgh, Pa. The Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center will be presenting it’s 33rd annual Pow Wow, September 24 th and 25 th, 2011, from Noon to 7PM each day, with the grand entry at 1PM. The program includes American Indians from many tribes singing, dancing drumming arts and crafts; and Native American foods.

A gathering of various tribal members who share in singing, competition dancing and renewing friendships, a Pow Wow expresses and sustains American Indian heritages by observing old traditions. Each day, the Pow Wow begins with an exciting grand entry of all dancers in their spectacular and colorful regalia.

Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy watching and taking part in the judging of the various categories of competition dancing. Those inspired by the beat of the drum can join in with a variety of social dances such as the Snake or Round dance.

After working up an appetite in the dance area, Pow Wow participants can indulge in traditional American foods. There will be vendor’s booths to purchase authentic American Indian treasurers, such as jewelry, baskets, clothing, quilts, pottery and much more. Children will also participate in a variety of activities.

The Pow Wow will be held at 120 Charles Street, Dorseyville, Pa. 15238-1027, approximately twenty minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.
